Jerry promised his friend long ago to be his girlfriend if he was ever swapped with a girl in Swap Class. (The promise was made easily. He never intended to enroll in the class and knew his friend would likely forget before they were old enough for the course anyway.)
Jerry's parents enrolled him in the class though after they met with the high school guidance counselor and were told Jerry needed the credits to graduate.
Jerry kept his word and found his friend to be a pretty good boyfriend when properly motivated. And he was pretty easily motivated whenever his new girlfriend showed a little skin.
