As the quantum bubble I was travelling to the past in slid elegantly through the quantum foam, it encountered an anomaly.
The strange rupture in the space-time structure rocked my bubble and redirected its vector and, paradoxically: its origin. (Understanding time travel paradoxes is a challenge even to a veteran such as myself.) Not only did the encounter change the life I was headed to, it changed the life I came from. Instead of being born male, I was retroactively born female.
I barely had time to concern myself with my sex change though as the bubble dramatically shrank. The anomaly had catastrophically siphoned energy from the quantum bubble and as it diminished in size it became to small for me to fit.
Unable to react in time, I watched my newly slender limbs burn away to the ether right before my bubble fell out of warp and I found myself several centuries from my original target and the rest of my team. Without their support, I'd have to find a way to survive on my own, out of time.
