Some More TG Captions

Birthday Break 2

Caption thumbnail Click here for part one.

It turns out it wasn't my wife's plan to turn me into a young woman with the NuNanite+ birthday gift. She insists that I had to know you were supposed to use a configurator before injecting them!

She's convinced I chose this body intentionally so until she cools down and lets me back in her good graces, I'm giving her space and sleeping in the car.

  1. Can someone on an Apple device tell me whether this animated caption works? Thx! :)

    2. Thank you Annonamyus! Can you tell me if my other test works: https://some-more-tg-captions.blogspot.com/2023/01/proof-of-possession.html ? (This one uses a different possible solution.)

    3. You can see the video but not most of the words. If you have Discord, I can help more.

    4. *Sigh.*

I've been down quite the rabbit hole: It turns out iOS has at least 3 different ways it isn't "up to spec" and each time that I find one workaround, it introduces another issue.

It doesn't support vp9 but it's supposed to support vp8. But when I use that it still won't play in iOS.

I try h264 mp4, which it also is supposed to support, and it *still* doesn't show.

I try implementing a still image as a fallback "poster" and it won't show unless I include it in the tag itself. But then it shows at its initial size and won't scale with the SVG or even the page!

I figure out how to get the video to play for iOS if I use RedGifs but it has the same scaling issue!

iOS is supposed to scale elements in inline SVG if you specify both width and height in the SVG attributes. I try manually specifying height and width for both the SVG and the video tag, and it *still* won't scale correctly.

Maybe I just do what is working for the 84% and try to figure out a way to show a link to the video for iOS users?

Ooh! Maybe I could make some JavaScript create a SVG image on-the-fly that fits in iOS browsers?

    5. I know a way to attach gifs to words.

    6. Yeah, GIFs have *really* good support (they *should* having been around for so long...) but I am not a fan of their quality and *really* not a fan of their filesize.

    7. Understood. Out of curiosity, did you see my request? Sorry for being pushy.

    8. I did! A bit of BTS Erica-style:

My (current) schedule is to post a new caption every weekday @ 7:30am EST. In order to keep to that schedule consistently without adding stress to my RL, I created a sizable backlog. (I have at this point a little under 60 posts scheduled - I know what you're gonna see here on June 9.)

When you made your request on the previous post (thanks BTW) I let my brain sit on it for a day and then created the post starring James. When I was happy with it, I swapped it out for the one "next" in the schedule.

      It should post tomorrow.
