Neglected Pet

I was in my neighbor's yard feeding and petting their beloved Australian Shepherd rescue dog "Maya" when the Role Exchanger flew through town. Maya needed special attention because of injuries she got through her previous owners' neglect. They'd left her outside unfed and uncared for during a particularly hard winter cold-snap. Frostbite cost Maya her paws and voicebox. Because she couldn't bark for attention and wouldn't fend for herself, her new loving owners made sure she was cared for. When they left town for any significant length of time, I'd care for Maya in their place and I loved doing it. Maya was so sweet and fun to play with!

I'd always assumed that the Role Exchanger restricted its swapping to humans. Perhaps it's expanding its experimentation? Maya and I switched bodies and I don't know whether I froze in shock or if the Role Exchanger's blue light had locked me in place. After a short pause - not even long enough for me to understand what it meant for me to have her body - the Role Exchanger continued affecting me. The first swap put me in Maya's body and the second swapped my species & breed with a poor woman on the sidewalk.

I'm stumped. What do I do know? I no longer have lower legs or forearms (but I have a new tail.) I'm stuck on a leash and can't free myself without fingers. I'm mute and can't call out for help. And Maya (in my body) & the woman on the sidewalk (as an Australian Shepherd) clumsily ran away as soon as the Role Exchanger moved on.
