When Terry came out to his friend Murugan as Trans, Murugan revealed to Terry that he came from a long line of wielders of magic and could help him transition more quickly than traditional medicine (and the current political climate) would.
Murugan warned his friend that the use of magic always exacted "costs." The larger the violation of normal laws of physics, the larger the price. Murugan couldn't be sure what the magic would demand (or who would have to pay it) until they performed the spell. The price always seemed proportional to the phenomenon but the wizards nearly always found the cost worthy.
Because of the enormity of the cost Murugan might have to pay for his friend, Terry agreed to go on several dates with his shy friend after the transition. The spell miraculously transformed Terry into Teri and then painfully burned his arms into oblivion. Murugan wanted to let Teri come to terms with both of his drastic changes but Teri insisted they "celebrate" her beautiful new body and immediately stripped as quickly as she could in her unfamiliar and abbreviated form. She was happy to pay the price.
