I updated the 110 animated posts (80 of which have been published so far) on the blog so they hopefully work better for iOS devices.
ReplyDeleteThe videos are now encoded in h.264 mp4 format and on page/video load, the video is resized based on the prescribed sizes in the SVG and the actual size of the elements. (Basically, there is JavaScript on each caption that runs after video load on iOS devices that does what other devices do natively.)
I should probably update the code so it's separated from each post... One step at a time, I suppose.
Because I don't have an Apple device, I can't definitely confirm my attempt was successful. (I've been debugging this annoyance through a remote simulator.) If someone with an iPhone could tell me that the video captions are working for them now, I'd be appreciative.
