Roger found employment in a machining shop as soon as he was old enough in 2050, and even though he agreed with the "safety first" idiom, he gratefully accepted the union-paid nanite body repair package as soon as he qualified.

The package may have saved his life a decade later when a steel press fell from its mounting and nearly flattened him. Unfortunately, his pancaked limbs were beyond the nanites' abilities to repair with their triage priority being assigned to torso damage. They applied their own version of a turniquet to his limbs and applied localized healing. But Roger hadn't gone in for the free update to the nanite programming so when the nanites realized his manhood was similarly irrepairably injured, they set to work repairing the rest of his body to match.

The shop is a small privately owned business so his boss could give "Rita" a very unique offer (in order to avoid an otherwise inevitable costly worker's compensation.) Rita would retain Roger's employment but her new job would be as a persistent visual aid representing the importance of "safety first." She eventually modified her agreement so that workers with exceptionally high productivity could be rewarded with "Rita time" after work.
