Avery felt lost and alone. He could tell by the activity around him that he wasn't the only person affected by what would eventually be called the Great Shift. In fact, most everyone were taking stock of their bodies in ways that made it clear they were new. The more drastic changes prompted crying or screaming. But most of the people around him were also speaking a shared language that he didn't understand. His new location and body made him feel lost. But the new language barrier made him feel alone.
